I'm Dr. Hyun Joong Hong, and my career has been a personal journey of discovery and dedication to improving the lives of individuals suffering from chronic spine and pain conditions. as well as helping to prevent and reverse them. My unique path has led me to have been a primary investigator in groundbreaking FDA phase 2-4 clinical trials, pushing the boundaries of medical and minimally invasive treatments for spine and chronic pain issues.
My journey in medicine began with a solid foundation as an internal medicine resident
and then anesthesiology and critical care, where I trained at the renowned University of Washington. These early experiences provided me with a comprehensive exposure to the mysteries of human physiology both , in the clinic setting but also under the extreme stesses of surgery under anesthesia and in the intensive care unit. It set the stage for my future endeavors.
To deepen my expertise and explore innovative approaches to pain management, I pursued an interventional pain medicine fellowship at the avant-garde Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. This intensive training not only expanded my knowledge but also exposed me to cutting-edge techniques and therapies in the field.
What truly defines my practice is my unwavering commitment to exploring innovative solutions. As a former primary investigator in clinical trials for innovative treatments, I actively contributed to the development of medical and minimally invasive treatments. These trials are at the forefront of medical advancements, offering hope and tangible solutions to patients who have endured chronic pain for far too long.
My approach is marked by a willingness to explore advanced therapies that may be considered "outside the box." While evidence-based medicine remains essential, I understand its limitations when addressing the unique needs of individual patients. I am keenly aware that medical studies often involve large populations, and I recognize the potential biases in published research. Therefore, I consider a wide range of treatment options, always with the patient's best interests at heart.
In my relentless pursuit of excellence, I prioritize empowering patients with knowledge. I firmly believe that well-informed patients make informed decisions about their health, leading to better outcomes and a more positive healthcare experience.
My dedication to my patients, my innovative spirit, and my commitment to advancing spine, pain management and healthspan are the cornerstones of my practice.
Driven by a belief in improving healthspan which is quality of life inflammation through both , he's at the cutting edge of neuromodulation, regenerative biologic therapies, and non-steroidal treatments.
